Grab
Grab is like the Asian version of Uber — and it’s hands down the best taxi app in Bangkok and across Thailand. With Grab, you can book cars, motorbikes, vans, or even rent a private driver for 2 to 12 hours, whether you’re staying within Bangkok or heading out of town.
What really sets Grab apart from other apps is its precise location detection and ease of use. It recognizes condo names, BTS/MRT exits, and local landmarks — which means fewer clicks and less confusion. In contrast, other apps often show just a generic address, leaving you wondering if it’s the correct pickup spot.
Beyond taxis, you can also use Grab to order food from local restaurants or even get groceries delivered to your door.

Want to save even more? Grab offers a budget-friendly subscription called GrabUnlimited for just āļŋ99 per year. It gives you access to discount coupons and easily pays for itself after just a few rides.
Another handy feature: you can set up a family account to cover rides for your partner or kids. There’s also a corporate login option for employees whose companies pay for transportation. One of my Thai friends uses Grab entirely for free this way — her employer picks up the tab.
Bolt
Bolt is the second most popular taxi app in Bangkok. Unlike Grab, Bolt doesn’t offer food or grocery delivery — it’s strictly for booking taxis or sending packages.
You can choose between motorbikes, standard 4-seater cars, or larger 6-seater vehicles.

In my experience, Bolt is cheaper for deliveries, but less reliable for taxi rides. One major issue: drivers often don’t go to your exact address. Instead, they follow a map pin, which can be off by 20–30 meters or more.
This became a real problem when my girlfriend broke her leg — we had to walk on crutches just to reach the car. I contacted Bolt support about this, but the issue still hasn’t been resolved.
A possible workaround: send a short instruction in Thai to the driver so they follow your real address instead of just the map location.
inDrive

inDrive used to stand out by letting passengers suggest their own fare for a ride. Drivers would then choose whether to accept the offer or not. If the price was too low, you simply wouldn’t get a driver — so it required offering a fair rate.
However, this feature has recently been removed in Thailand. Now, inDrive functions much like Bolt: you request a ride, see a fixed price, and wait for a driver to accept.
With the unique selling point gone, inDrive no longer offers a major advantage over other apps.
LineMan
Lineman is Thailand’s local alternative to Grab (which originally comes from Malaysia). It offers similar features — you can book car and motorbike taxis, order food from restaurants, or get groceries delivered.
Many of my Thai friends prefer Lineman over Grab because of its frequent coupons, which make both taxis and food deliveries more affordable.

That said, there’s one major downside: drivers often get lost. I once watched a friend wait over 17 minutes for a taxi at my house because the driver couldn’t find the location.
That’s one of the reasons I personally stick with Grab — the drivers are more accurate and usually arrive faster.
MuvMi
MuvMi is a unique app for booking electric tuk-tuks in Bangkok. You can reserve just one or a few seats and share the ride with others, or book the entire tuk-tuk for up to 6 passengers.

ð Key Features:
- Flexible pickup options: Choose Economy for a cheaper ride with a longer wait, or Express Pickup for faster service.
- Pet- and stroller-friendly: You can bring pets or travel with a child in a stroller.
- Travel Pass: For āļŋ960, get a day pass with unlimited private rides, extra priority pickup, and no ride-sharing. Ideal for groups exploring Bangkok all day.
- Stable pricing: Fares stay relatively consistent even during peak demand — unlike Grab and other taxi apps.
ðĄ Use promo code 0ZNYEBEK to get āļŋ30–50 credited to your account after your first ride.

Lalamove

At the moment, this service offers both cargo and passenger transport in Bangkok and Chonburi. When I moved from one condo to another in Bangkok, I booked a truck and moved all my belongings for just 350 baht.
ð Key Features:
- The cheapest way to transport large items around Bangkok (Grab only allows up to 15 kg).
- Movers can help pick up your items from your apartment and carry them upstairs at the destination.
- You can send packages by scooter, car, pickup, or truck — up to 2,400 kg in weight.
- I personally use it only for cargo deliveries, as passenger rides tend to be slightly more expensive than on Grab, based on my experience.
