Location and How to Get There

💰 Entrance fee: Free
Benchakitti Park is located in central Bangkok, in the Asok area, close to the Terminal 21 shopping mall. It’s easy to reach by both MRT and BTS, and if you’re driving, there is plenty of parking available around the park.
By Public Transport
You can get to the park using either of Bangkok’s metro systems:
- MRT (Blue Line): Get off at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre Station.
- BTS Skytrain (Green Line): Get off at Asok Station, then walk about 460 meters to the park’s main entrance.
By Car or Motorbike

Benchakitti Park has several parking areas. The most convenient one is located near Entrance 1. If you’re driving, use this entrance as your destination. Motorbike riders can use the dedicated parking area nearby.
Interestingly, this is the only park in Bangkok where I’ve seen an electric vehicle charging station.

Park Entrances
Benchakitti Park has 10 entrances. One of them connects the park to Lumpini Park via a 1.6-km elevated skywalk, making it easy to visit both parks in a single trip.
The map below shows the location of all park entrances.
Opening Hours

Benchakitti Park is open daily from 4:30 AM to 10:00 PM.
The park is busiest in the early morning and around sunset, when the weather is cooler and more comfortable for outdoor activities. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, you’ll find even more visitors, as several local running clubs meet here for group workouts.
At first glance, the map might make it seem as though Benchakitti Park consists only of the lake and the running track that circles it. In reality, the park is much larger than it appears.
You’ll quickly realize this if you continue west toward Benchakitti Forest Park, an expansive green area that significantly extends the park’s boundaries and offers a completely different atmosphere.
Park Rules and Restrictions

To help keep Benchakitti Park clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone, the following activities are prohibited:
- Smoking
- Picking flowers or damaging plants
- Drinking alcohol
- Flying drones
- Feeding birds
- Gambling
- Bringing pets into the main park areas
If you’re visiting with a pet, there is a dedicated area called Benchakitti Dog Park, which is open daily from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM. It’s the largest dog park I’ve seen anywhere in Bangkok, with plenty of space for dogs to run, play, and socialize.

Facilities
Benchakitti Park is well-equipped for both recreation and exercise. Visitors can enjoy:
- Free public restrooms
- Extensive walking paths
- Dedicated running tracks
- Cycling lanes
- Complimentary sun loungers by the lake
One of my favorite features is the lakeside seating area, where you can relax and enjoy the skyline views after a walk or workout.

Unfortunately, food and drinks are not sold inside the park itself. You can usually buy water, coffee, and other beverages from independent vendors near Entrance 1. For a meal or snack, head to the food court at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, which is just a short walk from the park.
Things to Do at Benchakitti Park
Benchakitti Park offers plenty of activities for both adults and children. Whether you’re looking for a workout, a relaxing walk, or a great photo spot, you’ll find plenty to enjoy here.
Go for a Run

Benchakitti Park is one of the most popular running destinations in Bangkok. There are two main running areas:
- The scenic loop around the lake
- The trails and pathways surrounding Benchakitti Forest Park
I’ve seen people travel from all over Bangkok to run here. Fortunately, the park is so spacious that it rarely feels overcrowded, even during peak hours.
If you enjoy running with others, several local running clubs meet at the park every weekend at 7:00 AM:
- Saturday: FriendsFound
- Sunday: Sabai Run Club
Ride a Bicycle

Cycling is another popular activity at Benchakitti Park. The bike routes largely follow the same areas as the running paths, but dedicated cycling lanes help keep runners and cyclists safely separated.
If you don’t have your own bike, you can rent one from any of these three locations:

To rent a bike, download the Anywheel app. Bicycle rentals start at 10 THB for 30 minutes.
Take a Walk

One of the best things to do at Benchakitti Park is simply enjoy a leisurely walk.
The park is spacious, green, and beautifully maintained. You’ll find plenty of flowers, tropical plants, and scenic lake views throughout the grounds. Even on hot days, there are many shaded paths where you can escape the sun beneath the trees.
Join a Pilates or Yoga Session

Benchakitti Park features an outdoor amphitheater where people regularly gather for group Pilates and yoga classes on the lawn.
Rent a Pedal Boat or Kayak

One of the more unique activities at Benchakitti Park is exploring the lake by water.
Every day from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM, visitors can rent a pedal boat or kayak free of charge and enjoy a short trip around the lake.
A few restrictions apply:
- Rental time is limited to 20 minutes
- Participants must weigh less than 75 kg (165 lbs) 😄
Personally, I prefer the pedal boats at Lumpini Park. The views are better, and the boating area feels larger and more scenic.
Walk Along the Elevated Skywalk

One of Benchakitti Park’s standout features is its elevated skywalk, which winds through the park’s wetland area.
Walking here is a great experience. The path offers beautiful views of the greenery below, the lake, and Bangkok’s modern skyline. After sunset, the skywalk is illuminated, creating a completely different atmosphere and making it an excellent spot for an evening stroll.
Outdoor Fitness Areas

If you enjoy bodyweight training, you’ll find several outdoor workout zones equipped with pull-up bars, parallel bars, and other exercise equipment.
Playgrounds for Children

Benchakitti Park also has several playgrounds for kids, featuring:
- Slides
- Swings
- Climbing structures
- Play areas designed for different age groups

Sports Facilities
Benchakitti Park is home to a large sports center with a variety of facilities for both casual visitors and serious athletes. Available facilities include:
- Futsal courts
- Basketball, pickleball, badminton, and volleyball courts
- Table tennis tables
- A skate park
- A Muay Thai training area
- Exercise bikes

Access to these facilities is free. To use them, you’ll need to download the BKK Active app, register using your passport, and purchase an annual membership, which costs 300 THB per year.
💡 Interesting Fact: Before Benchakitti Park was created, this area was home to a large tobacco factory complex. Rather than demolishing all of the industrial buildings, parts of the original infrastructure were preserved and incorporated into the park’s modern design.
Visit Nearby Parks
One of the best things about Benchakitti Park is its connection to Lumpini Park.

The two parks are linked by a 1.6-km elevated skywalk, allowing you to explore both of Bangkok’s most popular green spaces in a single visit. If you enjoy walking or running, combining the two parks makes for an excellent half-day outing.
