Hi, I’m Marat. I live in Thailand and have explored every corner of Koh Chang. In this guide, I’ll show you the island’s best beaches — where to swim, where to catch the best sunsets, and which spots you can skip without missing out.

Klong Prao Beach

Out of all the beaches in Koh Chang, Klong Prao left the biggest impression on me. Picture this: a long, wide stretch of sand gently curving at both ends, giving you a panoramic view of the entire beach. It’s perfect for morning jogs or workouts right on the shore.

Fitness lovers will be happy to find a small outdoor gym with pull-up bars and parallel bars near Klong Prao Resort. But heads up — if you’re not a guest, you won’t be able to access the beach through the resort. I’ve tried 😅

A better option is to enter via the Flora I Talay hotel and restaurant. No one stops you, and the road leads straight to the sea. Bonus: the hotel itself is great too, with cozy bungalows just steps from the water.

The sand at Klong Prao is soft, and the sea has a smooth, stone-free entry — ideal for kids.

Along the beach, cafes and restaurants offer free sun loungers and beanbags if you order food or drinks. There’s also a scenic river nearby, perfect for kayaking.

For me, Klong Prao is the best beach in Koh Chang.

Lonely Beach

True to its name, Lonely Beach is tucked away from the island’s main tourist hotspots, making it peaceful and uncrowded — even in high season. To get there, you’ll drive down a narrow, slightly hilly road, but the reward is one of the most atmospheric beaches on Koh Chang.

The beach is split into two parts. If you follow the road signs, you’ll end up in the bar and cafe area, where the shore is rocky. For soft sand and swimmable water, head toward the Siam Beach Resort. You can park your scooter there and walk straight to the beach.

Lonely Beach is small, clean, and cozy. It offers soft white sand, shaded palm trees, and clear water — though there are a few rocks at the shoreline. The beachfront is lined with massage shops, laid-back cafes, and affordable bars. In the evening, fire shows light up the beach, making sunset even more magical.

There are two great beachfront hotels here where you can stay with sea views for around $50–60 per night: Siam Beach Resort and Nature Beach Resort.

White Sand Beach

White Sand Beach is the first stretch of coastline you’ll see when arriving in Koh Chang from the mainland. Be sure to stop at the scenic viewpoint — it offers a stunning panorama of the long strip of powdery white sand lined with palm trees.

The beachfront is dotted with cafes, restaurants, and bars that come alive in the evenings with fire shows and lively music. It’s one of the most popular beaches on the island, especially in the southern part where the vibe is vibrant and social. If you’re after peace and quiet, head toward the northern end — it’s calmer, less crowded, and more budget-friendly.

The sand is soft and fine, the water is clear and warm, and the shallow, gentle entry makes it perfect for swimming with kids. While you won’t find jet skis or parasailing here, it’s a great place for paddleboarding or kayaking. There are no rental sunbeds along the beach, but you can easily relax under the shade of palm trees or use the loungers provided by beachfront cafés.

In the evening, take a walk along the shore to catch the sunset, then grab dinner and watch a fire show at one of the beachfront restaurants.

The best access point is near the 7-Eleven store, where you’ll also find convenient parking. Keep in mind that beach access can be tricky to spot due to dense development along the main road — use this landmark to guide you.

✅ Recommended hotels on White Sand Beach: 15 Palms Beach Resort, KC Grande Resort, Du Talay Hotel, Kacha Resort & Spa.

Klong Kloi Beach

Klong Kloi Beach is located at the southern tip of Koh Chang, near Bang Bao Pier — the departure point for boats heading to nearby islands. It takes about 30 minutes to get here from popular areas like White Sand Beach by scooter. Ride with caution, especially if you’re not used to narrow roads and the occasional stray animal.

This beach is long and sandy, with lush greenery providing plenty of natural shade. At the entrance, you’ll find cozy cafes where you can park for free and use a sunbed if you order food or drinks. If not, parking costs just 20 baht.

The water here isn’t crystal-clear, but it’s usually calm — especially if you walk further down the beach. The deeper you go, the quieter it gets, both in terms of waves and the overall vibe.

There are several good hotels on Klong Kloi Beach, including The Tropical Beach Resort and Chivapuri Beach Resort. But my personal favorite is Bang Bao Beach Resort, where you can rent a beachfront bungalow with a sea view for around $40 per night.

Kai Bae Beach

Kai Bae Beach is perfect for anyone dreaming of staying just steps from the sea. Many beachfront bungalows are literally a few meters from the water. I especially recommend Kai Bae Beach Grand View, with cozy bungalows and panoramic windows, and Kai Bae Beach Resort, where villas sit right on the sand and come with terraces and swings.

The beach is long, sandy, and scenic, offering beautiful views of nearby islands — especially at sunset. The water is clear, shallow, and ideal for kayaking. Rentals are easy to find along the beach.

One unique feature of Kai Bae is the elephants that are regularly brought here to bathe. Bring some bananas to feed them and snap unforgettable photos.

That said, be cautious when swimming: parts of the beach have rocks, coral, and sea urchins, especially during low tide (typically from March to May). The best spot for swimming is near the Grand View Hotel.

Right next to the beach is Kai Bae Village, a lively area with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops for all tastes.

The best beach access point is near C at Sea Cafe by the Kai Bae Beach Resort — there’s also convenient scooter parking here.

Other Beaches on Koh Chang

  • Wai Chaek Beach — A wild, beautiful beach that’s hard to reach due to a rough road and steep hills. Perfect for adventure seekers and those craving solitude in nature.
  • Long Beach — The most secluded beach on the southeast side of Koh Chang. Expect white sand, clear water, and wild monkeys eager to steal your snacks. As of July 26, 2025, the beach is temporarily closed for maintenance.
  • Ko Ngam Beach — A picturesque beach on a small island near Koh Chang. Great for snorkeling and a peaceful few hours of relaxation. You can get there by boat (100 THB per person) or kayak (200 THB). Note: there’s a 200 THB entrance fee to the island.
