Private Transfer from Bangkok to Koh Chang

If you’re traveling with a group or simply prefer more flexibility, booking a private transfer from Bangkok to your hotel on Koh Chang is a great option. The driver can pick you up from anywhere — either downtown or straight from the airport.

  • Comfort car / SUV: 4,400–5,900 THB
  • Minivan (6–11 people): 5,000–7,000 THB

Driving from Bangkok to Koh Chang by Car

If you’re planning to stay in Koh Chang for less than a week, renting a car in Bangkok can be more cost-effective than booking a private transfer. I usually use Local Rent — they offer competitive prices and a wide selection of vehicles.

When choosing a rental car, keep an eye on two key details:

  • Island access: Some companies charge extra for taking the car to islands.
  • Deposit return policy: It’s better if the deposit is refunded immediately rather than after 30 days.

🚘 The route is simple: drive from Bangkok to the Aow Thammachat ferry pier, board the ferry with your car, and in about 30 minutes you’ll arrive on Koh Chang.

Flying from Bangkok to Koh Chang

Koh Chang is located in Trat province, and you can fly there from Bangkok. Trat has a small airport with organized transfers to the island.

✈️ Bangkok to Trat flight: 1,781–3,152 THB

🚌 Transfer from Trat Airport to Koh Chang: 650 THB

💰 Total cost: 2,431–3,802 THB

At first glance, this might seem like the fastest way. But here’s the catch: when you factor in travel time to the airport, check-in, the flight, baggage claim, and then the transfer to Koh Chang — it ends up taking about as long as the bus. So in most cases, flying doesn’t really save you much time.
