Where is the Koh Chang Ferry Terminal?

The main ferry terminal to Koh Chang is called Ao Thammachat Pier — this is where most ferries to the island depart. It’s located in Trat Province.
Return ferries from the island depart from Ao Sapparot Pier.
Koh Chang Ferry Schedule (Both Directions)

Ferries between the mainland and Koh Chang operate daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Below is the official ferry timetable. In reality, departures are often every 30 minutes when there’s a high flow of tourists and vehicles.
🛥️ Ferry times from Trat to Koh Chang:
06:30, 07:45, 08:45, 09:45, 10:45, 11:45, 12:45, 13:45, 14:45, 15:45, 16:45, 17:45, 18:30
🛥️ Ferries from Koh Chang to Trat follow the same schedule.
⏱️ Crossing time is 30 minutes.

When we traveled at the end of July (low season), we arrived at the pier and got in the second line. The first batch of cars boarded after 10 minutes, and we followed 30 minutes later. So our total wait time was around 40 minutes. In high season (November to February), expect longer queues — plan extra time accordingly.

What the Koh Chang Ferry Looks Like
There are two types of ferries operating between Trat and Koh Chang: open-deck and closed-deck vessels.

Personally, I preferred the open-deck ferry — you get a full view of the sea, there’s a cool breeze all around, and the ride feels much more comfortable. The closed-deck ferries have small windows, and the experience just isn’t the same.
Getting from the Koh Chang Pier to Your Hotel (Without a Vehicle)
If you’re arriving on Koh Chang without your own transport and not as part of a group transfer, you have two main options:
🚐 Songthaew Taxi — These are pickup trucks with benches in the back, waiting right outside the pier. Just tell the driver your hotel name, and they’ll take you there. Prices vary depending on distance. I can’t give an exact rate for Koh Chang, but in Koh Phangan I paid 200 THB per person.

🏍️ Motorbike Rental — You’ll find rental shops near the pier. Prices start at 200 THB per day. Most places ask for a 5,000 THB deposit or your passport as collateral, so be prepared.

fantastic info, thank you very much
