Wong Amat Beach
In my opinion, Wong Amat Beach is the cleanest beach in Pattaya. It’s divided into two sections: left and right.
- Left side: Mostly visited by Thai locals. The beach here is narrower, the sea less inviting, and you might see some litter. However, there’s plenty of natural shade from trees, and local vendors sell drinks and snacks.
- Right side: Much more comfortable. The beach is wider, longer, and noticeably cleaner. You’ll find sun loungers provided by nearby hotels or available to rent for 100 THB. This side is more tourist-friendly.

While the water isn’t as crystal-clear as on the islands, it’s still much cleaner than in central Pattaya. The entry into the sea is gentle, and the sand is soft, without rocks or coral — making it great for both swimming and beach walks.
The biggest perk? Convenience. Wong Amat is close enough that you can visit daily without a long commute.
✅ Pros:
- No speedboats — quieter and cleaner than Jomtien or Pattaya Beach
- Calm and cozy vibe with no crowds
- Easy beach access from nearby condos
❌ Cons:
- No proper showers (only water barrels with scoops for 30 THB)
- No real changing rooms — just a bamboo screen

Jomtien Beach

Jomtien Beach stretches over 6 kilometers, making it one of the longest and most popular beaches in Pattaya. It’s lined with palm trees, giving it a tropical vibe, and the beachfront is filled with Thai restaurants and casual cafes — perfect for grabbing a local meal.
You’ll find plenty of water activities here, including jet skis and sailing. While the beach is generally clean, the sea can occasionally have floating debris, especially after storms. Still, it’s a great place to enjoy the sunset in a more relaxed atmosphere than central Pattaya.

If you’re traveling with kids or just prefer a quieter atmosphere, I highly recommend Jomtien Beach. It’s spacious, laid-back, and much more family-friendly compared to central Pattaya.
✅ Good and affordable hotels near Jomtien Beach:
Pattaya Beach

Pattaya Beach is a long, lively stretch right in the heart of the city. It’s surrounded by bars, restaurants, and shopping malls — making it a great place for people-watching, sunset strolls, and enjoying the nightlife.
You’ll find a wide range of water sports here, like parasailing and jet skiing. The beach itself is fairly clean, but the water isn’t ideal for swimming due to the number of boats and the central location.

Still, it’s a great place to soak up the city vibe, relax in a beachfront bar, or catch a sunset over the Gulf of Thailand.
✅ Good hotel options in central Pattaya:
- Edge Central Pattaya – rooms with kitchenettes
- Arbour Hotel & Residence – a bit farther (1 km from the beach) but very stylish
- The Base Central Pattaya – modern apartments just off the main road
- Heeton Concept Hotel – family-friendly, with a playground on-site
Cozy Beach

If you’re looking for the best sunset spot in Pattaya with a wow-factor view, head to Cozy Beach. It’s more than just a beach — it’s part of a hillside area with scenic terraces, cafes, and restaurants offering breathtaking sea views.
I stopped by The Chocolate Factory — a cozy café with delicious desserts and relaxed atmosphere. They serve everything from cakes and ice cream to full meals, and the terrace view is absolutely stunning.

The beach itself is small and quiet — a hidden corner of Pattaya. While it’s not ideal for swimming (even 30 meters out, the water is still waist-deep), it’s great for relaxing and escaping the crowds.
✅ Where to stay near Cozy Beach:
Andromeda Condominium – just a 5-minute walk to the beach and offers one of the best sea views in Pattaya
Pratumnak Beach

Pratumnak Beach is a quiet, small beach that rarely gets crowded — perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful escape. The waves are often gentle, and the sea has a very gradual slope: even after walking 20–30 meters in, the water is still shallow. That makes it a great beach for families with kids.
🪑 Beach Facilities:
- Sun loungers with umbrellas for rent — 100 THB
- Small fruit and snack stalls nearby
- A few local cafes offering full meals
One of the big perks of this area is its proximity to Muscle Factory Pattaya — one of the best gyms in town. They offer serious equipment for weightlifting and power training (monthly pass is around $66). I go to the same chain in Bangkok — highly recommend it if you’re into heavy training.
During my stay, I booked a room at Zing Hotel — just a 6-minute ride from Pratumnak Beach by motorbike taxi. The hotel has a great breakfast and a nice pool, too.
Dongtan Beach

Dongtan Beach is one of the cleanest and most well-maintained beaches in the Pattaya area, located between Jomtien Beach and Pratumnak Beach. It’s a great spot for a relaxed day out, with soft sand and plenty of trees offering natural shade.
The beachfront promenade is perfect for a walk, where you’ll often see locals selling fresh fruit, snacks, and drinks. You can rent a sun lounger for 100 THB, and there are designated swim zones with floating boundaries.
While the water isn’t always crystal clear — especially near the shore — the overall vibe is calm and peaceful. Facilities include public toilets (5 THB), massage services, and a few beachfront cafes.
In the evenings, the beach becomes a popular spot for picnics and quiet strolls — walking along the shore with the sound of waves is a simple pleasure here.
🏋️ Looking to work out? There’s an outdoor gym area with pull-up bars and parallel bars. I trained there myself.

Beautiful Beaches Near Pattaya
Some of the most scenic beaches around Pattaya are located on military grounds, which unfortunately means access is restricted for foreigners. Here are a few beaches where entry is typically not allowed for non-Thai visitors:
Though honestly, I believe a polite conversation might work in some cases. 😉
That said, there are still plenty of beautiful beaches near Pattaya that are open and easy to access — no special permissions required.
❗️ Important tips:
- Bring your passport or driver’s license — you’ll usually need to leave it at the gate and collect it on your way out.
- Most beaches close around 6:00 PM, so plan your day accordingly.
Sai Kaew Beach

🕕 Closes at: 6:00 PM
💸 Entrance fee: 100 THB for adults, 50 THB for children over 5, free for kids under 5
📅 Best to visit: Weekdays (less crowded)
Sai Kaew Beach, also known as Military Beach, is one of the most beautiful and well-kept beaches near Pattaya. It’s located on military grounds, so you’ll need to leave an ID (passport or driver’s license) at the entrance, which you’ll get back when you leave.
This beach offers a clean shoreline and clear water — great for a day trip away from the city. Facilities include restrooms, showers, and a parking area. There’s also an on-site café serving tasty Thai food at reasonable prices.
Instead of the usual sun loungers, you’ll find simple chairs set up along the beach — a nice touch that keeps the vibe casual.
🐒 Watch your belongings! Monkeys often roam the area and aren’t shy about stealing unattended bags or snacks.
Nang Ram Beach

🕕 Closes at: 6:00 PM
💸 Entrance fee: 50 THB for adults, free for kids under 5
📅 Best to visit: Weekdays (for fewer crowds)
Nang Ram Beach, often called the Dancing Girl Beach, is a beautiful, well-maintained spot run by the Royal Thai Navy — located about an hour’s drive from Pattaya. It’s peaceful, with clean water and a calm atmosphere, making it an ideal place for families or anyone looking to unwind.
You can rent a table with four chairs for around 300 THB, and there are plenty of food stalls nearby offering snacks, drinks, and fresh seafood. Facilities include public restrooms and showers (10 THB), and there are lifeguards on duty for added safety.
This beach is a favorite among locals for weekend getaways, but it’s much more enjoyable if you come during the week when it’s quieter.
Nang Rong Beach

🕕 Closes at: 6:00 PM
💸 Entrance fee: 50 THB
📅 Best to visit: Weekdays
Nang Rong Beach is a picturesque spot with white sand and clear water, making it a great choice for a relaxed family outing. It’s well-equipped with restrooms, showers, and a few beach cafes offering tasty Thai dishes at affordable prices. Sun loungers can be rented for just 40 THB, so you can easily chill here until closing time.
The beach is popular with locals who often picnic under the trees. However, that can sometimes lead to leftover trash, so the beach isn’t always perfectly clean.
👉 Tip: Bring water shoes — there are occasional sharp rocks in the shallow water.
Bang Saray Beach

Just a 20-minute drive from Pattaya, Bang Saray Beach offers a peaceful, authentic escape with the charm of a traditional fishing village. It’s a great spot for anyone looking to relax away from the crowds and experience a slower pace of life.
The sand here is clean (though not as white as some nearby beaches), and the water is cool and refreshing. You can walk along the shore lined with boats and palm trees, soaking in the quiet vibe that makes this place feel a world away from Pattaya’s busy center.
There are plenty of seafood restaurants and small Thai eateries near the beach, making it easy to spend a full day here. Weekdays are especially calm, while weekends bring more locals — but the beach still remains relatively quiet.
You can rent sun loungers or just find a shady spot under the trees and unwind.
Kinnaree Beach

💸 Entrance fee: 100 THB
Kinnaree Beach is a peaceful and cozy spot, perfect if you’re into camping by the sea. Located on military grounds, you’ll need to present an ID at the entrance, which you’ll get back when leaving.
The sand here is golden, the water is clean, and the overall vibe is quiet and laid-back — a great place to pitch a tent, grill up a barbecue, and spend the night under the stars.
This beach is ideal for a quiet getaway rather than active swimming. If you continue a bit farther east, the beaches there are more about enjoying seafood and sunsets — swimming isn’t common due to rough waves and rocky shores.
