The easiest way of getting from Pattaya to Koh Chang is to buy a combo ticket that includes a bus, ferry, and hotel transfer. You’ll be picked up directly from your hotel or apartment in Pattaya, driven to the pier, taken across by ferry, and then dropped off at your hotel on Koh Chang.

🚗 How to Get From Pattaya to Koh Chang by Car or Motorbike
Time needed: 5 hours
If you have your own vehicle, getting to Koh Chang is easy. The key is to arrive at the pier on time and bring cash for the ferry ticket.
- Drive to Ao Thammachat Pier
The drive from Pattaya to Ao Thammachat Pier takes about 4 hours. Ferries to Koh Chang run daily from 06:30 AM to 6:30 PM, departing every 30–60 minutes.
- Buy a Ferry Ticket
Tickets are sold on-site, cash only, and on a first-come, first-served basis. Prices are: ฿80 per passenger, ฿40 per motorbike, and ฿120 per car.
- Wait Your Turn
I traveled in July (off-season). I lined up in the second queue and was on the ferry in about 40 minutes. The waiting area has a café and free toilets.
- Ferry Ride to Koh Chang
The ride takes around 30 minutes. You can grab drinks and snacks on deck while enjoying the fresh sea breeze — a very relaxing trip.

🚕 Taxi from Pattaya to Koh Chang
You can also get to Koh Chang from Pattaya using a regular taxi via the Grab app. It’s cheaper than a private transfer — the ride costs around ฿2,700. However, ferry tickets aren’t included, so you’ll need to pay separately for both the vehicle and the passengers.
For example, if you’re traveling with four people, you’ll need to pay an extra ฿440 at the pier (฿120 for the car + ฿80 × 4 for passengers). Even with this added cost, Grab is still more affordable than a private transfer.
If you’re feeling adventurous, Grab also offers motorbike taxis from Pattaya to Koh Chang for around ฿1,815. Not for the faint of heart — it’s a long ride on two wheels, but definitely unforgettable.
